Since 2002, the graphic design duo Helmo has been in charge of the visual communication for Jazzdor festival, dedicated to improvised music. This book presents a selection of fifty-six concert posters designed between 2019 and 2024, and looks back at the genesis and process behind the creation of this visual series through two interviews with Thomas Couderc and Clément Vauchez, and Jazzdor director Philippe Ochem.

To reflect the wide aesthetic variety of the music in the programme, Helmo calls on all possible expression forms: photography, drawing, painting, materials, documents, typography, texts or quotations. Everything is allowed to compose these micro-narratives that announce and accompany this singular music.

Éditions B42 publishes books exploring the visual environment in which we live, contributing to the creation of a library of tools for reflection on the practices of design, graphic design, typography and contemporary creation. These studies intersect with other fields such as technology, media, digital technology, anthropology and cultural studies.

B42 is committed to translating major texts in the history of design and typography, as well as publishing essays that contribute to the dissemination and renewal of knowledge. This work, which began in 2008, has resulted in a catalogue of reference books, particularly popular with teachers, which constitute a living, ever-changing collection.
