Afina Poster
AΘΗNA / AΦΗΝΑ is a wordplay based on the way the word is read. The horizontal stroke of the Θ turns vertical, becoming Φ and changing the meaning, leaving open the question of what exactly you are reading.
The typographic design speaks about the fast pace of Athens and how exhausting life in the city can become — about the thought of leaving it while continuing to live within it.
The design was created by me, with the print produced by my friend and collaborator TheProof Print Club, using the screen-printing technique on 300 gsm Amber Graphic paper, measuring 70 × 50 cm, supplied by Perrakis Papers.
Yorgos Papadoyiannakis graduated in Graphic Arts Technology from the Technological Educational Institute of Athens. He started out working in screen printing and the broader field of graphic arts, getting hands-on experience with print production and materials. That early connection to the physical side of printing still shapes the way he thinks and designs today. Later on, he moved into the creative side of graphic design, focusing on illustration and typography. His visual language is flexible and constantly evolving, adapting to the needs of each project rather than following a fixed style. He enjoys experimenting, researching, and letting the concept guide the outcome. He has a strong love for artistic screen prints and printed matter in general, always feeling most connected to work that lives on paper and carries the texture and presence of print.
