Greece History New Arrivals

Glotta is a new annual magazine. Each issue will weave together three themes and disparate voices from the present and past. It’s a hybrid publication for a many-headed audience. It takes the ancient paradoxographers as inspiration, their attention to miracles and marvels, the abnormal and inexplicable. It has no manifesto. Only a sense that the subterranean rivers of history flow closer to the surface than might initially appear. And that if you listen attentively, you can still hear the babble of their currents’ many tongues.

Glotta is an independent annual literary magazine originating from the Greek island of Hydra. Bringing together diverse voices from the past and present, each issue explores three seemingly unrelated themes through literature, history, mythology, and cultural curiosity. Inspired by ancient Greek paradoxographers and their fascination with the extraordinary, the unusual, and the unexplained, Glotta uncovers unexpected connections between language, imagination, and human experience. With an unconventional and playful editorial approach, the publication invites readers to explore the strange and fascinating stories that connect different times, places, and ideas.
