Surfaces Utiles brings to the fore artistic and graphic practices that play with the limits of visual representation of written language and question the relationship between the notions of legibility and visibility.
With each publication, Surfaces Utiles seeks alternative economic models for the publishing industry in complicity with its actors, especially by appropriating and hacking standardized printing processes. With similar mindset, Surfaces Utiles publishes La Perruque, a 1 × 90 centimetre-long magazine printed in the margins of regular documents, showcasing nonstandard type specimens.
